Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in contact with the league office.

The team omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
